ABC shows predicted to be canceled
Call Your Mother (CANCELED 5/14) – ABC’s lowest rated sitcom
For Life (CANCELED 5/14) – ABC’s lowest rated scripted show
Mixed-ish (CANCELED 5/14) – third lowest rated ABC show, only 13 episodes produced, which for a veteran show is a big negative indicator.
American Housewife (CANCELED 5/14) – good ratings, but veteran shows with only 13 episodes produced are almost always dead. However, if the 13 episodes were a result of COVID restrictions, this prediction will be wrong!
ABC shows predicted to be renewed
Rebel (CANCELED 5/14), Home Economics (RENEWED 5/14) – both have borderline ratings for rookie shows. Both close calls.
black-ish (RENANCELED* 5/14) – ratings are fine, but seven seasons is often a break point for shows when cast contracts need to be re-negotiated, for that reason, a cancellation would not be shocking.
The Conners (RENEWED 5/14) – while third season shows are rarely canceled, and the only risk to The Conners is the cast failing to strike another salary deal, or the producer being unable to strike another license feel deal.
The Rookie (RENEWED 5/14), A Million Little Things (RENEWED 5/14)– third season shows are rarely canceled, no matter the ratings.
The Goldbergs (RENEWED 5/14) – ABC’s third highest rated show, but also its second oldest. There’s always a small chance that old shows end without warning.
Station 19 (RENEWED 5/10) – Would be shocked if this show was canceled this season. Renanceling* is far more likely.
Grey’s Anatomy (RENEWED 5/10) – ABC’s highest rated show. Would be shocked if this show was canceled this season. Renanceling* is far more likely.
CBS shows predicted to be canceled
Clarice (CANCELED by CBS, s2 maybe on Paramount+) – CBS’s lowest rated show, by far
The Unicorn (CANCELED 5/15) – ratings finished borderline, lead signed on to a new AppleTV+ show, only had 13 episodes ordered. Still, second season cancellations don’t happen often, so a renewal would not be shocking.
All Rise (CANCELED 5/15) – ratings have drifted down to the borderline, and it’s a WB production, another second season cancellation prediction that’s a close call.
CBS shows predicted to be renewed
B Positive, United States Of Al (BOTH RENEWED 5/15) – not much to distinguish the “good enough” ratings of these two Chuck Lorre shows. CBS never renews all their freshmen sitcoms, but they also never cancel a Chuck Lorre show in season 1. I’m guessing the latter trend holds, but won’t be surprised if the former trend holds instead!
SEALTeam (RENEWED 4 eps on CBS(?), then more on Paramount+)– somewhat surprisingly not included in the recent renewals, would be shocked if it was canceled, but there’s a chance now.
CW shows predicted to be canceled
CW shows predicted to be renewed
Fox shows predicted to be canceled
Prodigal Son (CANCELED) 5/10 – lowest rated of the four Fox dramas, would be surprised if it was renewed
Fox shows predicted to be renewed
The Resident (RENEWED 5/17) – would be surprised if it was canceled.
Call Me Kat (RENEWED 5/10)– if Fox continues airing live action comedies next season it would be shocking if it was canceled.
911, 911:Lone Star (BOTH RENEWED 5/17) – would be shocked if either were canceled.
NBC shows predicted to be canceled
Debris – rookie show, very low ratings
Good Girls – lowest rated NBC scripted show, however, the combination of Netflix co-production and CA taxpayer subsidy which has kept it alive might do so again.
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist – terrible ratings, again, but similar to the the level that still allowed it to be renewed last year, and wouldn’t be shocked if it happened again
NBC shows predicted to be renewed
Manifest – third season shows are rarely canceled, no matter the ratings
Law & Order: OC (RENEWED 5/14) – no chance this gets canceled
Why no predictions for Fox’s LA’s Finest, Filthy Rich, & NEXT; CBS’s Star Trek Discovery, Manhunt:Deadly Games, & One Day At A Time; CW’s Pandora, The Outpost, Devils, Coroner, & Swamp Thing; and NBC’s Transplant?
All of those shows were either no hope “mid-season” shows from the 2019-20 season delayed into Fall 2020, or shows that had aired “elsewhere” (outside the US, on cable, or on SVOD) and were bought/corporate transferred for Fall 2020 fill in purposes only. None of them have any in-season futures on US broadcast networks, so predictions for them are moot.
- Right: Connecting, The Blacklist, Walker, Batwoman, Nancy Drew, Charmed, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Riverdale, Roswell, NM, The Flash, The Neighborhood, Bob Hears Abishola, Superman & Lois, The Simpsons, Equalizer, Mr. Mayor, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, Young Sheldon, NCIS, Bull, SWAT, Magnum PI, Blue Bloods, The Moodys, NCIS:LA, Young Rock, Kenan, Kung Fu, The Good Doctor, Big Sky, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, Call Me Kat, Prodigal Son, blackish, The Goldbergs, The Conners, A Million Little Things, Home Economics, The Rookie, Law & Order: OC, American Housewife, Mixedish, For Life, Clarice, The Unicorn, All Rise, B Positive, The United States of Al, 911, 911: Lone Star, The Resident

Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago, PD, Law & Order: SVU, New Amsterdam & This is Us were renewed for the 2021-22 season before their 2020-21 seasons began.

Supergirl, Black Lightning, & Last Man Standing were renanceled before their seasons began and will end in the 2020-21 season. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, blackish & This Is Us were renanceled and will end in the 2021-22 season.
