TV Grim Reaper predicts potential renewal or cancellation for scripted broadcast primetime shows by the end of the 2015-16 season in May, 2016. (The Reaper Index includes ratings from Dec 27, 2015 -Feb 28, 2016)
|Truth Be Told* (F)||canceled|
|Undateable* (F)||😥 😥|
|You, Me and the Apocalypse||😐 😐 😐|
|Grimm (F)||😐 😐 😐|
|The Mysteries of Laura||😳|
|Shades Of Blue||renewed|
|Law & Order: SVU||renewed|
You, Me and The Apocalypse ratings are terrible. In recent weeks, it’s been by far the lowest rated scripted show on NBC air (about 50% of NBC’s recent weekly scripted avg. ratings).
It’s also a cheap international co-production (with UK’s Sky) which might allow it to survive even with dreadful ratings.
Some historical ratings perspective with past NBC cheap international productions.
- Hannibal received a s3 renewal with Friday ratings at just 60% of NBC’s Spring 2014 scripted average.
- Dracula was canceled after season one Thursday ratings of 66% of NBC’s Spring 2014 scripted average.
The reaper’s not sure if YMATA is a Hannibal or a Dracula yet, he’s keeping it at a “toss up”.
The reaper’s running tally on NBC shows this season:
Right: Truth Be Told, The Player, Law&Order:SVU, Blindspot, ChicagoPD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, The Blacklist, Superstore
Draw/Tie/Push: (renewed or canceled while a toss up): Heroes Reborn

The Reaper Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
