TV Grim Reaper predicts potential renewal or cancellation for scripted broadcast primetime shows by the end of the 2015-16 season in May, 2016. (The Reaper Index includes ratings from Sep 21, 2015 – Dec 6, 2015)
|Truth Be Told (F)||canceled||0.46|
|Undateable (F)||😥 😥||0.56|
|Grimm (F)||😐 😐 😐||0.68|
|The Mysteries of Laura||😳||0.81|

Undateable is likely to be canceled. Its ratings are woeful, even for NBC Friday night.
Even though it’s in season three, it will have only 44 episodes at the end of the season. Far too few episodes, for any significant assistance from the Syndication Gods.
The show somewhat reminds the reaper of Cougar Town (canceled by ABC after three seasons, but short of 66 episodes). Could it follow the same path to TBS after broadcast cancellation?
Let’s look at the two shows’ similarities and differences.
Bill Lawrence – creator of Cougar Town, EP of Undateable
Number of episodes after season 3: Cougar Town (61 eps), Undateable (44 eps) [a minus for Undateable]
Production: Cougar Town aired on ABC, ABC co-produced. Undateable airs on NBC, WB co-produced.
TBS is the corporate sibling of WB. [a plus for Undateable].
While the data on shows being saved after broadcast cancellation is thin, a TBS save of the show after NBC cancellation would not surprise the reaper.
Based on its two “preview” (don’t call them premiere!) episodes, the reaper’s starting his prediction for Superstore at likely renewed, but don’t be surprised if that changes quickly once it airs “normally” in January.

The Reaper Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
