With the fates of the CBS Fall rookie shows set for now, there’s no time like the present for the reaper to change one of his “toss up” predictions.
Among low rated veteran dramas, NCIS:LA is as old as The Good Wife, and higher rated. NCIS:LA also airs on Monday night, and CBS has typically (but not exclusively) reserved veteran drama cancellations for shows airing on Sunday and Friday.
Those two reasons are enough to push the reaper off his NCIS:LA “toss up” prediction into one of “likely to be renewed”.
Elementary premiere ratings were low, but not the lowest for a CBS drama, and it’s far from the oldest. For that reason the reaper’s starting it at “likely to be renewed”. As always, early predictions are the most subject to change. Stay tuned.

The Reaper Index is the ratio of a scripted show’s new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It’s calculated by dividing a show’s new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show’s own network. The network’s average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
